...The search for the Dobb...
Did I also say before that I would be heart-broken??
I sure was.. and is... I said I kidda see it coming, but this was not quite how I though it would happen. Not with my Jez being all fucked up and Mark getting Happily Ever After. Things were going all too well for Mark that I felt quite annoyed already... and then the last two episodes (Christmas and New Year ones) were mostly about Jez being all too nice and Mark behaving like a dick in return. OK, to be fair, I am not sure I would much prefer it to be the other way around; but I surely like it more the other way around. Not only because I am in Jez' camp but also because destroying Jez world is like smashing and stomping someone's hope and dreams. Mark doesn't really have any.. at least not a totally beautifully innocent one like Jez. As I said before, I am a bit more like Mark... so I know his dream is not going to be as bright and sunny.. and stomping over it a bit is not really too sad for someone like Mark... he surely would expect it. But to do that on Jez is such a dispicable crime....
I always insist that Jez is actually pretty nice and he really loves Mark. There are actually numerous occasions throughout the years proving the point. Mark on the other hand is not quite so. I am sure he also does love Jez - to quote Jez - 'in a weird, unfriendly kind of way'. But Mark is too pessimisstic, too cold hearted to actually be dependent so heavily on anyone. As mentioned several times by the two actors, Mark can live without Jez but Jez would probably die of starvation. ... personally, I just think Jez and Mark see each other like family.. only difference is that Jez really needs a family and Mark not quite so.
It is heart-breaking to see Jez, realizing what Mark wanted, lying to Mark so Mark would leave him to start a new life with Dobby. Like someone said on twitter... at the end, it's sad because we know Jez actually really cares. The picture of Jez being grown up and unselfish is so unnerving and beautifully heart wrenching for me. Seriously, I felt like watching an adorable puppy watching faithfully as his owner walked away... and Gosh.. didn't I already say how sad Webb looks when he's slightly teary? At the end, at that fence Jez helped Mark dig a hole to Dobby, Webb looked very sad... my Jez looked really sad.. and it left me heart-broken.
Peep Show and TellSomehow, Robert and David look like a very well-to-do version of Jez and Mark
but then again... they play Jez and Mark- the roles written for them
It does take me awhile to be able to write about it. I am not even sure I can watch the last episode again properly anytime soon. I like to have something as anchors in life... something that won't change... something I can always rely on... I used to believe that no matter how lives screw up for either Mark and Jez, they would always have each other... they would stick together... and I took some comfort in that. Now that life is great for Mark but the El Dude brothers are apart, I am not actually think it's a happy ending at all.

Wish they were a gay couple... like Mark said in season 5
